    Julia Silverberg - New York Surround Sound
    In New York Surround Sound, I explore habits that I had when living in my hometown, Long Beach, New York, using only the materials I had access to once I moved to Paris. Inspired by the event scores of the Fluxus art movement, I created a “ habit score ” and a video piece in which I interpreted this score. Starting with the image and sound of my fan, which to me evokes home on a hot day, I layered sounds representing my life in Long Beach. The numbers in front of each item on the score can be interpreted by the person performing it. My habit score is adaptable and can be personalized; someone following the score can be transported to their own past life—with a New York twist.
