    Profile

Eduardo Staszowski, Ph.D. is a Professor of Design Strategies at Parsons School of Design where he co-directs the MFA in Transdisciplinary Design and the Parsons Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability (DESIS) Lab. He is co-founder and editor of the book series Designing in Dark Times, Radical Thinkers in Design, and Beyond the Modern, which examine critical and experimental configurations of thought, politics, and practice that respond to the systemic crises of modernity and envision transformative alternatives for collective life. His research and pedagogical work center on critical praxis and the political imagination as ways of engaging with complex social, ecological, and institutional conditions. He advances transdisciplinary models that consider not only what is but also what could be—not as a division between theory and practice, but as a dynamic and relational space where they converge. Since joining The New School in 2008, his collaborations with community organizations, public institutions, and transdisciplinary networks have been supported by numerous merit-based research awards and grants. He also co-coordinates the Graduate Minor in Civic Service Design.
