    Stuck in the Loop

Hi. My name is Taime Martin. I'm a trans-nonbinary artist. I create fashion and make music, and I'm here to give you a glimpse of my work. But first, let me tell a little more about myself. I'm from Paris and moved to New York three years ago. The work I present today is the trailer for my debut collection and album. It is about transition and dysphoria and reveals a touch of madness; but it is mostly about self-love. You see, Taime is not the name I was born with but the one I chose when I started my gender transition. It was not the easiest period of my life; I was struggling with my body and the way my mind worked. But one thing helped me: doing the things I loved the most.

I skateboard to feel the breeze in my hair. I make music to express what I have in my head. I create fashion to feel like myself in my body. That is how I came up with the name Taime; it means "love you" in French.

I rolled up my sleeves and started creating metal pieces as armor or cages for the body, developing products with European factories, repurposing items like skateboard trucks for heels and snowboard mechanical lacing for corsets. But I still needed to create something that would form a bridge between fashion and music. Nothing could be better than a runway show to do so—something that would transcribe the emotions of the garments into notes, matching the texture and feeling they create when you are wearing them, and giving people with no access to the clothes the opportunity to experience the feeling of it through their headphones. Let me now introduce you to the trailer for Stuck in the Loop.
