    Claudia Norman

    Claudia Norman is a multilingual award-winning arts producer, consultant, and artist/event manager based in New York City with 25 years experience developing, producing, and executing international performing arts projects in the USA and Latin America.

    She worked for Sheldon Soffer Management with Nederlands Dance Theater, Noche Flamenca, Nrityagram, and Ravi Shankar; worked at Arts International as Program Manager for the Americas, and as the Artistic Director of the Latino Cultural Festival at Queens Theatre in the Park. For the 2015 season, she was the Producer of Public Programming for the Lincoln Center Out of Doors and Midsummer Night Swing festivals. Some other projects she has implemented in NYC are: Catalan Days, Flamenco Festival, Sekou Sundiata retrospective, and PEN World Voices Festival.

    Claudia Norman, is known for producing and curating performances of iconic figures and introducing them to international audiences: Yo-Yo Ma’s The Bach Project/Days of Action in Mexico City, Farewell Concert at Carnegie Hall for Chavela Vargas, a Tribute Concert to Chavela Vargas at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall and in Latin America. She also produced the Leyendas Series at Town Hall, and co- produced the Rebel Spirit Series at L.A Phil. Norman also curates and co-produces with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, La Casita, a festival celebrating oral traditions, poetry, hip hop and global sounds. Since 2020, Claudia has produced the new work of Odissi dance master and choreographer  Bijayini Satpathy, who is the 2021-2022 MetLiveArts Artist in Residence and NDP recipient.  Also, she  is the founder and executive director of Celebrate Mexico Now Festival, New York City’s first arts festival spotlighting contemporary Mexico celebrating its 19th edition in 2022.

    Norman served as Co-Chair for the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) conference from 2009-2010 and for the 2019-20 Conference Committee. She also has served as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts ( NEA), NY Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), Arizona Commission on the Arts (AZARTS), MAFF, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation; The Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation; she has been a Juror at the Contemporary Choreographic Creation Contest INBA/UAM/Mexico; a guest speaker at WOMEX, VIC, and at the Music Markets in Bogota, Buenos Aires, Mexico and the National Arts Marketing Project. Currently she is a member of Creative & Independent Producers Alliance (CIPA) , NAPAMA/Mexico Committee and International Presenting Commons (IPC). 

    In 2021, she joined the Faculty at The New School in New York, to teach Arts Management and Entrepreneurship at the College of Performing Arts, on a part time basis.

    Born and Raised in Mexico City, Ms. Norman studied Latin American Studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and holds a Certificate in Arts Administration from New York University.
