Come to the College of Performing Arts at The New School, as a student of the School of Drama, the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, or Mannes School of Music, and find campus life that celebrates distinctive voices. Build lifelong friendships with fellow students who have a limitless range of interests, passions, and perspectives and are ready to collaborate with you.
Our community extends beyond the four walls of our buildings. Studying in the heart of New York City's Greenwich Village, our students are immersed in a place where intellectual curiosity and social activism creatively intersect with art, design, and performance. We also have our own state-of-the-art resources in all of our university buildings, where students can find the technology and space needed to study, learn, and create.
As a part of The New School, you are joining a diverse community of artists, designers, performers, activists, and scholars. In our residence halls, dramatists live with sociologists and anthropology students with jazz musicians. Our on-campus residences extend from Greenwich Village to Chelsea, offering students the opportunity to live and learn in a nurturing, supportive, and collaborative environment where exploration isn't confined to the classroom. Through involvement with organizations on campus and public programs, as well as intramural sports, athletics, and fitness classes, you will find a community of people who share your passions.
We are here to support the health and well-being of students so that they can learn and succeed while at The New School. We provide access to high-quality health care and services that enhance student wellness and quality of life in and outside of the classroom. Our goal as a university is to create a safe and secure environment where students feel comfortable learning, creating, and growing. Even though New York City is one of the safest cities in the country, we are dedicated to providing additional safety and support for our students, faculty, and staff.
