Pay Your Deposit Online
To accept your offer of admission and reserve your place in the class, log in to your Admission Hub and use the online system to pay your admission tuition deposit by the date stated in your offer of admission.

Pay Your Deposit by Mail
If you are unable to use the online system, you can pay your $500 tuition deposit by mail with a check or money order. Download the Admission Reply Form and send it with your payment by the date stated in your admission letter. 

Internal Transfers
Internal transfers are exempt from the requirement to submit a deposit. Please follow the link to the nondeposit form located in your offer of admission.

Special Deposit Circumstances
If you paid your deposit in a previous term or participate in a special program that exempts you from submitting a deposit, please follow the link to the nondeposit form located in your offer of admission.

To access your New School student ID number, log in to your Admission Hub. Student ID numbers begin with the letter N (example: N00123456) and will appear approximately three days after you view your admission letter.

You'll use your student ID number to look up your Net ID and access your MyNewSchool account. You must confirm your enrollment by submitting the required deposit to access MyNewSchool. Please also use your New School student ID on all correspondence with the university, as it will help our staff assist you as quickly and accurately as possible.

Incoming students can view their financial aid offer in the Admission Hub by clicking the "Financial Aid" button. Students who have submitted their deposit can view their financial aid offer by logging in to my.newschool.edu.

Financial Aid Guarantee
The New School has a financial aid guarantee for all programs, giving students and families assurance that their institutional scholarships and grants from us will never be reduced, even if financial circumstances change or a student finishes a semester with a less-than-ideal GPA.

Undergraduate

The New School allows students admitted to bachelor's and associate's degree programs to request a deferral of their admission and enrollment at the University for up to one year. Undergraduate students who have submitted their deposit and are eligible to apply for a deferral must complete the online Deferral Request Form, located in their Admission Hub. All deferral requests must be approved by the Office of Admission.

Once deferral has been approved, the student must submit a $1,000 enrollment deposit to finalize and confirm their deferral. If the student has already paid the $500 enrollment deposit and then requests a deferral, an additional $500 deposit will be required to finalize and confirm the deferral.

Students who are seeking a deferral for financial reasons are advised to speak with the Office of Financial Aid before paying the $1,000 deposit. Applicants approved for deferral will receive the same institutional merit-based scholarship awards offered upon admission. [Note: This does not include Federal and State aid or institutional need-based aid, which are evaluated on a yearly basis and may change. Students should contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.]

The New School considers deferrals like Early Decision students who are required to adhere to strict deadlines to confirm enrollment. Students with approved deferrals will be withdrawn and must reapply for admission if the confirmation, in the form of an additional $1000 deposit, is not received by the stated deadline.

Undergraduate students are not permitted to enroll as degree-seeking students or non-degree-seeking students at another college or university during the period of their deferral. Undergraduate students who enroll in any college-level coursework for credit during their deferral period will invalidate their deferral and will be required to reapply to The New School as a transfer student. This includes students who choose to enroll in a gap year program where college credit is earned.

Students admitted for the Fall term must submit their deferral request by August 1.

Students admitted for the spring term must submit their deferral request by January 15.

Deferrals are possible for one year only, and after that students will need to reapply to The New School. A limited number of programs have later admission dates and may accept deferral requests past these deadlines.

Graduate
Although deferrals for students admitted to a graduate program are rarely granted, those admitted to a degree program can request a deferral by submitting a Deferral Request Form. This request must be made by the enrollment response deadline indicated in the student’s admission letter.

In the rare instance that a deferral is granted, the student will be required to submit a non-refundable $1000 tuition deposit. This will be credited to the student’s account and applied toward the first term tuition bill. 

Graduate Deferral Request Deadlines

Students must submit the deferral request by the enrollment response deadline indicated in the admission letter.

Deferral Terms

• All deferral requests are subject to approval. The deferral will only be granted for up to one year from the start of the term admitted, with exceptions made for required military service. Students wishing to postpone their start for more than a year from their admit term must reapply.
• Undergraduate deferral requests are considered only for students who have submitted their non-refundable tuition deposit. The tuition deposit will be applied to the new term.
• Undergraduate students are not permitted to enroll as degree-seeking students or non-degree-seeking students at another college or university during the period of their deferral. Undergraduate students who enroll in any college-level coursework for credit during their deferral period will invalidate their deferral and will be required to reapply to The New School as a transfer student. This includes students who choose to enroll in a gap year program where college credit is earned.
• Graduate students with approved deferrals are not permitted to enroll as degree-seeking graduate students at another college or university during the time of their deferral. The transfer of graduate-level course credit  completed through non-degree study is subject to the transfer policy of the respective graduate program or school. Students with deferrals should consult with their program before enrolling in non-degree courses elsewhere.
• Admitted students approved for deferral will receive the same merit-based institutional awards offered upon admission. Need-based financial aid for undergraduate students is reassessed on a yearly basis following the submission of the FAFSA. The $1000 nonrefundable tuition deposit will be applied to the start term.
• If an undergraduate deferral request is approved, the deferral status will be immediately updated to indicate withdrawal from the current term and will reflect the new enrollment term. The student's New School email address will be deactivated until the new term.
• Students with deferrals who do not enroll for their intended new semester must reapply. The $1000 tuition deposit is non-refundable.
• If a graduate deferral request is approved, the student’s New School email address will be deactivated and the current application withdrawn. Students will be prompted to confirm their intent to enroll before the start of the new enrollment term. Students who do not confirm their intent to enroll by the deadline stated in the offer of admission may forfeit their seat.
• Students who do not adhere to the terms of the deferral and wish to enroll must submit new application materials, including an application and supporting documents, and forfeit the enrollment deposit.

The New School reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission up to the start of a student’s first term at the university. This may happen if an admitted, deposited, or enrolled student presents academic credentials with grades or coursework markedly different from those in the transcript or other supporting documents on which the original offer was based, or if a student engages in behavior that brings into question their honesty, maturity, academic integrity, or moral character.
