Alyssa holds a BA in Communications from Adelphi University. Jennifer MacDonald Senior Director of the Center for Career Design and Development Jennifer MacDonald Senior Director of the Center for Career Design and Development Jennifer (she/her) is a senior higher education leader with expertise in career development, student success, and strategic, inclusive program design. Before joining The New School, she served as the director of the STEM Diversity Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she led initiatives to expand access and improve academic outcomes. Jennifer is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the Career Collective, and the Graduate Career Consortium. She undertook advanced doctoral study in comparative European history at Brandeis University, with additional academic study in France and Canada. Her practice emphasizes empowerment through artistic expression, and she is a passionate advocate for women, youth, and the environment. She has extensive experience in supporting students in their career aspirations. Connecting with students individually and in workshops, she addresses topics ranging from job search strategy and career assessment to interviewing, salary negotiation, personal branding, and using LinkedIn. Before becoming a career counselor, Hope worked briefly in television news, PR, law, and secondary education. Hope has lived and worked in Tokyo; Washington, DC; and New York. She holds a master's degree in group work from Hunter College School of Social Work, a master’s degree in East Asian languages and literature from Columbia University, and an undergraduate degree in comparative Japanese literature from Brown University.
