Students are charged the student health insurance fee after registering for classes. This charge does not mean you are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). To enroll, you must complete an enrollment form on the University Health Plans website. You should submit the enrollment form at least two weeks before the start date of the spring semester coverage period, which is January 15, 2026, to make sure your insurance is active when the coverage period begins.
If you were enrolled in the SHIP in fall 2025, your coverage will continue in spring 2026 as long as you are a registered student in the spring 2026 semester. You don't need to complete another enrollment form this academic year.
2025–2026 School Year
- Fall semester coverage period: August 20, 2025–January 14, 2026
- Spring semester coverage period: January 15–August 19, 2026
- Fall enrollment continues automatically in the spring semester, provided you are a registered student in the spring. Please note that a delay in your spring registration may delay your spring health insurance enrollment.
- If you are not registered in the spring, your coverage will end automatically on January 14, 2026.
- New students, and continuing students who were not registered in fall 2025, will be enrolled in the SHIP by default after the waiver deadline has passed if an enrollment or waiver form is not submitted. We advise those who want to enroll in the plan not to wait to be default-enrolled, as coverage will not be active when the spring coverage period begins. Students who want to enroll should complete the enrollment form.
PLEASE NOTE: If you graduate in the fall 2025 semester, your insurance coverage will terminate on January 14, 2026. You (and any enrolled dependents) will not be eligible for insurance coverage for the spring 2026 semester, since you will not be a registered student in the spring.
Special Enrollment Because of a Qualifying Life Event
Students who waive the SHIP and experience an involuntary loss of coverage because of a Qualifying Life Event during the academic year can enroll in the SHIP for a prorated premium. Contact University Health Plans for enrollment assistance at [email protected] or 833.251.1129.
