Eugene Lang College demonstrates how vital and important a liberal arts education can be in the 21st century. Lang is a progressive college that is part of The New School, a vibrant, creative university in the heart of New York City. Our open curriculum
invites students to chart their own educational pathways with guidance and support. Faculty and staff advise students on course selection, civic engagement opportunities, internships, and events that will prepare them to thrive in a complex, ever-changing world and to make it a more just and joyful place to live. Faculty at the world-renowned New School for Social Research hold joint appointments at Lang. In 2025, the Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students joined the college, bringing along its rich history of meeting the needs of adults and working professionals.
Our interdisciplinary offerings address the urgent issues we face today, affirming the deep connection between theory and practice—between conceptual frameworks that challenge the status quo and the lived experience that manifests and modifies
those frameworks. The faculty at Lang, in the Adult Bachelor's Program, and at the New School for Social Research is made up of internationally renowned scholars, artists, public intellectuals, and working professionals who collaborate with students in small seminars and in the city just beyond the classroom.
I’m proud to lead this dynamic community and invite you to explore all we have to offer.
