Internships are an integral part of the New School experience, and one of the distinct benefits of studying and living in New York. In a single year, New School students interned at more than 1,000 organizations.
Students can find internships by meeting with their Success Advisor (their career and academic advisor), attending Career Services events, and leveraging relationships with faculty and fellow students. Using these resources, students can find the right
programs to foster creativity, stimulate intellectual inquiry, and advance their academic study and future career. In addition to helping students identify the right opportunities, we provide on-campus recruitment events and career development workshops
in résumé writing, interviewing, and other skills for job seekers.
Most internships range from three to six months, and many academic programs strongly encourage or even require an internship experience. Often, students can earn academic credit for an approved internship.
Students looking for part-time, full-time, seasonal, temporary, freelance, or contract-based jobs receive support from the Career Services team. Jobs and internship opportunities are listed on our online jobs board, the
HireNew, accessible with a New School ID and password. We also provide access to the domestic and global job board
GoinGlobal. PhD students will find
Versatile PhD, an academic and nonacademic job board and network platform, particularly helpful.
Undergraduate students can make an appointment with their Success Advisor at any time using
Starfish, our Student Success Network. For additional questions about internship and job opportunities, please email
