Facilities Management

Facilities Management operates an online work order system. Anyone with a New School email address can submit work requests. 

Work Order Guidelines

• A tutorial for completing a work order can be found here.
• Log in using your [email protected] and password (do not use your email alias).
• First-time users will be asked for additional information to register with the system.
• Please be sure to complete all entries in the work order form.
• Once you submit your work order, you will receive an email confirmation.
• Academic work orders submitted between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays are generally reviewed and approved the same day. Work orders received after hours will be reviewed the following business day. Residence hall work orders are monitored continuously.

Event Set-Ups

• Please be sure to provide 72 hours' advance notice when requesting room set-ups for a class or event.
• You must have a confirmed space reservation number before you can proceed with your facilities request.
• Under the "What—describe the work to be done" section, select "Room Reservation" from the drop-down menu and fill in all the information requested.
• If your event requires special equipment or additional labor or extends beyond normal building hours, you will be asked to provide a FOAP before your event set-up is approved.

IT/AV Requests

IT/AV services cannot be requested using this form. All IT/AV requests should be submitted through the MyNewSchool webpage using the Services tab.

Please note: You must disable pop-up blocking in order to use The New School's Work Order system.

The New School's Environmental Health and Safety office within Facilities Management is responsible for regulatory compliance for worker safety and environmental protection. The office's responsibilities include chemical safety, EPA-regulated waste management practices, ergonomic guidelines, and safety awareness campaigns.

The New School is committed to sustainability in all aspects of building operations, especially reduction of water and energy consumption and increased efforts in recycling and composting solid waste. We are actualizing the university's ongoing promise to reduce its carbon footprint. We played a key role in The New School's successful participation in the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment and the New York City Mayor's Challenge to Universities.

Beginning July 15, 2022, faculty and staff will receive university mail through a secure digital mail system and packages will be available for pickup at centrally located automated package lockers on campus.

• Welcome Center: 72 Fifth Avenue, basement
• University Center: 63 Fifth Avenue, basement
• Sheila C. Johnson Design Center: 2 West 13th Street, 1st floor
• Lang Building B: 65 West 11th Street, basement
• Lang Building A: 66 West 12th Street, basement
• Vera List Center: 6 East 16th Street, lobby
• 71 Fifth Avenue, 9th floor

These locations are the only valid addresses to receive package deliveries on campus.
