Medical Services

Medical visits are available to all students, regardless of insurance, at no charge. Laboratory tests performed at SHS are sent to Quest Diagnostics, who will bill your insurance. Depending on your plan, deductibles and copayments may apply, which are your responsibility.

If you need a prescription, we will send it to the pharmacy of your choice. Your pharmacy will need your insurance information, and you’ll need to pay any applicable copays. 

You’ll need to use your insurance for any services rendered outside of Student Health Services. Please review your plan documents for benefit information and associated costs. If you have student health insurance, visit the Health Insurance website for more information.

Please note: Students taking Continuing and Professional Education classes are not eligible for SHS services.

• Complete your forms and upload your insurance card to the SHS portal before your appointment.
• Arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment.
• For the health and safety of yourself and others, you must wear a well-fitting mask at all times while in SHS. Masks are available in our waiting area if you need one.
• If your appointment location is "Clinic Area," your appointment is at 80 Fifth Avenue, 3rd floor.
• If your appointment is telehealth, you should log in to the SHS portal to initiate check-in. A Zoom link will become available in the SHS portal once you have completed check-in, upon which your provider will be ready to start the visit.

Fonemed is an after-hours nurse advice line available to students in the United States whenever Student Health Services is closed. Experienced nurses will provide you with medical guidance, health information, assistance in decision making, and referrals. Call 212.229.1671, option 2, all weekend, after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and on university holidays.
