    Licensing Program Code of Conduct

The New School’s Licensing Program values ethical practices, attention to sustainability, and quality in our design partners, suppliers, manufacturers, and products. We believe that conducting business responsibly benefits society as well as our various stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, partners, and community members. We strive to create a positive impact on the environment and society through responsible sourcing and production. We seek partnership with vendors that meet the following criteria:

    • Employ ethical fair labor practices
    • Use environmentally responsible, sustainable materials
    • Make products in the United States
    • Are owned by or employ New School alumni
    • Are local or bespoke independent vendors
    • Are BIPOC- and women-owned businesses or suppliers

We expect all our suppliers, manufacturers, and products to adhere to the code of conduct outlined below.

  • Intellectual Property

All licensing inquiries regarding trademarks and other intellectual property (e.g., patents) should be directed to the Provost’s Office at [email protected]. Learn more about The New School's Intellectual Property Rights Policy.

    The New Store

The New Store is the official source for officially licensed merchandise of The New School.

    The New Store aspires to:

    • Offer a modern retail experience that serves as a channel for connecting and identifying with the New School brand, student and alumni work, merchandise, creative tools, and intellectual output (e.g., publications) from across the New School community.
    • Promote a sense of pride in The New School, convey the university’s values, and reach an extended network of the New School community (students, alumni, faculty, staff, family, and friends).
    • Be more than a retail outlet—be a values-driven creative outlet. The university’s approach to design, sustainability, collaboration, and leadership inspires the way we source products, create partnerships, run store operations, and share messaging.
    • Establish an additional channel for engaging with and involving alumni.
    • Become a central home for all New School authors and publications.
